Six-Month Group
There are patterns that do not change through insight alone...

What This Group Offers
This six-month Relationship Recovery Process (RRP) offers an experience of adults coming together in a closed, structured environment who have a shared experience; difficult and traumatic childhoods. It offers a safe place where you can begin to understand how your early relationships continue to shape your thoughts, emotions, reactions, and adult relationships today.
Many people come to this work feeling stuck in repeated patterns: people-pleasing, difficulty setting boundaries, fear of conflict, perfectionism, chronic self-criticism, loneliness, or feeling unseen and misunderstood. The group provides a place to explore these patterns with curiosity, honesty, and empathy.
Through education, reflection, and connection with others on a similar journey, participants begin to develop a stronger relationship with themselves and create new ways of relating to the people in their lives
How the Work Happens
The first group we were exposed to was our family. The ways we learned to survive in our childhood dysfunctional family environments often become the unconscious patterns we bring into our adult lives, also known as our conditioning.
Each weekly group combines psychoeducation, personal reflection, and supportive group interaction. We explore concepts such as childhood conditioning, emotional triggers, projection, the inner child, dialoging with the younger parts of ourselves and learning how to respond to ourselves from a grounded, compassionate adult perspective.
Group members are not asked to give advice or fix one another. Instead, the group becomes a place to witness, understand, and support one another as each person does their own work.

Commitment
Meaningful change takes time, consistency, and courage. This six-month commitment allows members to build trust within the group, develop deeper self-awareness, and practice new ways of understanding themselves and their relationships.
Groups meet once a week for 90 minutes. Members are asked to attend regularly, maintain confidentiality, and commit to showing up honestly for themselves and the group.
Who This Is For
This group is for adults who recognize that their past may still be influencing their present. It is especially valuable for people who grew up in emotionally immature, neglectful, chaotic, critical, unpredictable, or otherwise difficult family environments.
Many participants are highly capable and successful in their external lives, yet privately struggle with intimacy, self-worth, anxiety, relationship difficulties, over-responsibility, or a feeling that they are never quite enough.
Curiosity, openness, and a willingness to look inward are the most important requirements to join. A truthful narrative of your childhood family dysfunction is also very important.

The Work and RRP Lineage
This work is rooted in the Relationship Recovery Process model (RRP), developed by Amanda Curtin and expanded upon by Patrick Teahan (patrickteahan.com) RRP is based on the understanding that our earliest relationships create the blueprint for how we experience ourselves and others.
The work emphasizes identifying childhood conditioning, recognizing emotional wounds that continue to influence the present, and developing a compassionate and truthful relationship with the younger parts of ourselves.
Susan B. Hagen participated in the Relationship Recovery Process with Amanda Curtin for seven years as both a participant and intern, and has continued to use and teach these principles throughout her professional work. She is honored to be part of the lineage of this transformative approach and to guide others in their own journey toward greater self-understanding and healthier relationships.
